Reducing the blinding sun with a blind

We have this one window that everyday the sun comes in very brightly. To block out the sun and my wife insists that the blind complement the furnishings and color scheme of the room as well as offering best privacy we decide to go with a woodslat venetian blind.

A window blind  is a covering for a window, usually attached to the interior side of a window. Blinds hide from sight (thus "blinding" a viewer of the window) or to reduce sunlight. Blinds have varying thermal effects: they can block unwanted heat of the summer sun and they can keep in heat in cold weather. But in both of these applications, they also reduce light to varying degrees, depending on the design. Many kinds of blinds attempt varying balances of blinding external viewers and allowing sunlight.

We went with the lighter natural color of wood, I personally like the real dark wood color, but this is what she wanted.
