I  am not sure when they were first made, but we use and have allot of candles that we keep and burn it many rooms of our house. A candle is a light source, and sometimes a heat source, candles consists of a solid block of fuel and an embedded wick.

Prior to the mid-19th century, candles were made from tallow beef-fat rendering. Most candles now are made from wax.  Paraffin wax is the most common, but there are also candles made from gel, soy and beeswax.

A candle manufacturer is traditionally known as a chandler. Various devices have been invented to hold candles, from simple tabletop candle holders, to elaborate chandeliers. Their are many types of candles today and my wife has one of each kind.  There are Floating Candles, Tealight Candles, Jar Candles, Pillar Candles, Restaurant Candles and Glass Candle Holders.  These are some the candle types that we have in our house.


It never hurts to have lots of candles when the power goes out.
